Hello and welcome to another episode of Erin Eat’s! Oh, wait, no sorry this is just my recipe blog.  Anywho, this is my homemade recipe for whipped cream! I am a cream lover through and through. My family might even consider me a cream addict… I love cream. Specifically, whipped cream. I created this recipe in desperation one night, needing something sweet to satisfy my dessert craving. After having made some crème brûlée a few days before, I had some extra heavy whipping cream on hand. So there I went, at 10:00 pm, pulling out the good ol’ kitchen aid.

Start The Mix

To start, I measured out one cup of cream, which was all I had left, and poured it into my mixing bowl. Next, I threw in 3 1/2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 3 teaspoons of vanilla extract. I prefer to use Mexican Vanilla Extract, as it just seems richer and darker to me.

Whip It Good

After all the ingredients were combined in the mixing bowl, I turned on my kitchen aid to the highest setting and let it go for about 3 minutes. Be careful to mix just until the cream forms stiff peaks, otherwise if you let it go too long you will have a glob of delicious sweet butter. If you do not have a stand mixer you can also use a hand mixer, or even just your hand. If you are whisking by hand (which I have), it can get pretty tiring, as you must whisk vigorously for about five minutes this way. But, it is well worth it.

Indulge

Now that you have your whipped cream, you can use it to top your favorite desserts, or you can just eat it straight out of the bowl (like I do…). I would say you can probably keep it stored for about a week or two, but I can’t say for sure as mine never lasts more than three days before it is gone… What can I say, it is some good stuff!

Whipped Cream Recipe

Whipped cream is one of my absolute food weaknesses. I created this recipe in desperation one night, looking for a topper for a dessert. Who am I kidding, this was the dessert. It is fast and easy and I especially love to put it in my morning coffee.

Course           Dessert

Prep Time     5 minutes

Cook Time    0 minutes

Servings        6

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 3 1/2 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 3 tsp Vanilla Extract

Directions

  • Pour cream, sugar, and vanilla into a large mixing bowl

  • If using a kitchen aid or hand mixer, whisk on high for 3 minutes or until stiff peaks form. Careful not to whisk to long in a kitchen aid or your whipped cream will turn to butter! If you are using a hand whisk, whisk vigorously for 5 or more minutes until stiff peaks form.

  • Serve on top of your favorite dessert, morning coffee, or enjoy it alone!
